These pictures tells the story of my 'Range Rover Classic' (now sold)
It was a 1973 two - door model. Initially it was with the V8 engine, but later it was
converted to a very big and powerful engine ! this was the perkins 4236 3.8L diesel engine, which was very popular in the
eighties. I remember it was a very noisy engine and I soon discovered that the 4 speed original gearbox had to either be replaced
or a fifth gear in the form of an 'overdrive' was to be added.
Time passed and I opted for a complete engine change, so in 1990 I've replaced it
with the rover 2.5 turbo diesel. I also did a full paint job on it. It was in sand yellow color but I re - sprayed it
in a 2 tone color scheme; dark brown to match the original leather upholstered roof and camel as can be seen in the pictures.
Furthermore I added a front spoiler which had a fitted fog llamps out from a vogue model, LR Driving lights, a set
of alloy wheels with all terrain 'Safari Kelly' tyres, and also fitted an x-3 winch, amongst many more gadgets.
All this work was made possible with the help and expertise of my dear dad Salvu, an aircraft engineer and a motor mechanic by trade who is now enjoying his retirement, thanks dad.
Looking back, I do not really know if I did the right thing when I sold it ! It was very
sad to see it go. My daughter who is now 13, still mentions it every now and then and reminds me of the great time we spend
traveling and going to numerous camping trips with her.
